From our humble launch founded by Maria Todd in 1989, Mercury Healthcare has evolved into a diversified healthcare management company.
Our company headquarters are located in the central business district of Denver, Colorado USA.
As a company, our culture is progressive, creative, flexible, and adaptive. We dare to be different.
"We are integrated by design because we don't believe that the silos of healthcare serve the industry, its providers, its consumers, or its insurers well."
When Maria Todd began looking for a name to represent the new company, she chose Mercury for several reasons: From the classic Roman mythology, Mercury was the symbol for clarity (Hermes in Greek). Wielding archetypal symbols such as the caduceus, a winged helmet and sandals, we find themes of balance, health, wisdom, movement (travel) and creative flexibility. His name is derived from the Latin root merx which indicates merchant, as Mercury was known for efficient commerce. His quick delivery of silver-tongued negotiations and messages, as well as his fleet-footed nature caused him to be identified with the planet because Mercury is the swiftest of planets, never ceasing its high energy spinning. As a highly recognized speaker, prolific author and respected thought leader in the health care industry, a formidable managed care contract negotiator, and a visionary in global healthcare integration and healthcare business development, she quickly determined that Mercury was the obvious choice.
Our orientation to healthcare integration and our aversion to silo-oriented health industry practices comes from our belief that with integration comes accountability and value integration, and that silos produce neither and add costs without associated value. While some of our brands are in launch phase, we are well-established experts in healthcare management. We've simply sorted out the services we provide into more manageable business units, each with their own accountability and deliverable, yet complementary to and collaborative with the other integrated divisions and subsidiaries of the company. MHI Wellness, a subsidiary of
Mercury Healthcare International, Inc., is a part of the
MHI Benefits Group Division. MHI Wellness brings wellness and health promotion to your worksite and gets to the root cause of most chronic illnesses by addressing members’ high-risk lifestyle choices. Other divisions include our
health travel management and healthcare business consulting divisions.
By design, we are the largest private sector accountable healthcare organization (AHO) in America. As a company, we are not afraid of big data, and we use it to our advantage and embrace technology that supports interoperability, efficiency, and flexible decision support, to deliver disruptive value innovation to our clients through the best practices and priniciples of managed care. In 2009, we filed for registration the new industry term of art, "Globally Integrated Health Delivery System" with the US Patent and Trademark Office, in order to more accurately describe what we do and how we do it. After four attempts, the registration was granted in 2010. We seek out channel partners of the same ilk and collaborate with them to produce a seamless product that makes sense from a healthcare management and clinically integrated perspective regardless of what happens with American healthcare reform.

"Managed care is an attempt at a coordinated approach to deliver a full continuum of healthcare services through a system designed to measurably meet the objectives of delivering appropriate care by the appropriate provider at the appropriate venue at the appropriate time and utilizing appropriate resources such as staffing and technology. The target is to deliver care at a lower cost and realize a higher favorable outcome ratio than care that is not managed."
